Basically out of the box, it has a startup graphic and shows speed, check control messages and turn by turn Nav in color. With a little light coding, mine now also
How do I get my BMW heads up display? In BMWs with Operating System 7 you can switch it on or off by going to “CAR”, “Settings”, “Displays”, “Head-up display” and check the box “Head-up display”. The brightness automatically adapts to the ambient light, but can also be manually adjusted under “Brightness”.Turn OFF the ignition switch. Reconnect or install any connectors or components that were disconnected or removed. Turn ON the ignition switch. Move the head-up display dimmer switch to the full bright position. Operate the head-up display image UP and DOWN by pressing the DISPLAY button. Applying a small amount of graphite lubricant or silicone spray such as WD-40 lubricants into the ignition cylinder can help loosen any debris or provide lubrication to free up the key. It is highly recommended to use a spray lubricant in this case. Pouring may not do the job properly since the key ignition is perpendicular to gravity. The height of the display is adjustable but if you sit with your seat as low as it will go and with the back slightly reclined the display may not be in view unless you're over 5'10 or so.
